An Anthropologist from Mars: Reflections on Reflexivity in the Quest for Human Nature

I’ve always loved this exercise!  I remember thinking that a Martian, observing our fascination with cars, might assume that we are focused on serving the needs and desires of our vehicles!  We feed, clean, and care for them…  spend much of our time inside of them… have them serviced, inspected, upgraded, decorated…  from the point of view of an outsider observer Earth from above — are vehicles more important than people?
