Our genetically determined traits are working on us all of the time giving us a predisposition toward certain behaviors. This predisposition can be very strong or very weak. Most of us fall in the middle range where our genetic predispositions may not be determining factors because other influences from our environment exercise a stronger force on our behavior. We are interested in finding out where the science is on this issue today. To what degree is our behavior controlled by our genetics? We can ask this question from an individual point of view or as a species. Is our brain chained? Do we inevitably act in certain ways? Is our free will an illusion?
